Well trained dogs provide excellent work
We all know that dogs have much more potentials than being just pets.
They are very useful and helpful creature that can provide guardianship,
assistance, and companionship. Many people realize the benefits of having dogs
working for them to increase productivity. In police, dogs are trained by
police dog handlers to assist in making arrests, detect lost persons and drugs,
tracking criminal and more.
Police dogs or K9 Units undergo extensive training with their police
dog handler. They have to be trained and performed various jobs such as
handling people and substances. And because they spend a lot of time in public
doing the work such as at airports and large public gatherings, so they need to
have social skills while keeping their guard up.
Normally, a police dog is trained to work with only one or two police
handlers; however, there are some that can work with multiple handlers. To be a
police dog handler is not an easy job, one has to be trained as much as the
dog. Each handler needs to lead the pack and interpret with K9. The basic
duties of police are to perform normal police duties such as chasing and
holding a suspect.
Dogs are often used for tracking but cadaver dogs and tracking dogs
have difference. Tracking dogs have a good sense of smelling and sensing. They
are used to located criminals and lost persons. While cadaver dogs can track
based on the odor of a decaying body, they are used often when the missing
person is assumed dead. However, the
same dog is often trained as both a cadaver and tracking dog for the highest
effectiveness.
In addition, when it comes to tracking, search and rescue dogs can
locate people based on scent. They can detect missing persons. Normally, search
and rescue dogs are often used after natural disasters. SAR and tracking dogs
have their capabilities to detect missing persons even underwater. These dogs
have to face many dangerous situations and that’s why they must be trained to
remain calm in every situation. Police dogs handlers have to train and teach
them different search and rescue techniques.
Training a dog is not an easy task. It requires time and effort. Police
dog handler needs to work with the dog for long periods of time so that the two
must be able to communicate. Obedience training can begin as they’re puppies or
young. It takes about 6 to 18 months to train the dog. Each one has to keep
perfecting their techniques and senses until they’re ready for the real job.
Canines are trained by police dog handlers and are used for a variety
of police jobs. They have the capabilities in tracking missing people,
detecting illegal substances and finding cadavers. And this is why police and
government organizations know the value of canines and use them to increase
productivity. Although humans can do everything but in some cases, animals can
provide better results and it is a wiser choice to let professionals like K9s
provide the excellence.
