Police dogs are best known as their abilities to assist police officers and their handlers. They can be aggressive to criminals but obedient to their partners. The police dogs are required to retrieve them on flat ground and jump over a variety of different ramps and frames while holding the designated weight in their mount. In the obedient phase, dogs must learn to heel, on and off the leash. Protective suits are used for protection. This is very important equipment for human to wear while training the dog for attacking. Sleeves made out of protective material used on the arm to handle the attacking dog. It can be used alone without protective suit. Whips and guns are used for the protection area of training. And blinds are what the trainers stand behind in an attempt to hide from the dog being trained.

Next, the dogs need to learn about tracking. Police dog handlers will use many items for the dog to sniff out. The dogs will be asked to pick up the scent of humans so that they will be able to track the missing persons or criminals. They must also go through a gunfire test and be able to perform various tasks by memory. There are many methods used for canines training so that the dogs will become strong and well-behaved. There is nothing better than having a well-behaved and obedient dog protecting you.

There are not many people who are qualified to be a police dog handler or trainer. It takes a very special person to do these tasks. The very best tool of training requires experience and natural ability of the handlers and trainers. This is why the process in selecting handlers to work with the dogs is crucial. It is just to ensure that they will be able to train the police dogs to be well-behaved obedient, strong, intelligent and ready for all the work in every situation.
